The Christian Aid for Zambia (CAZ) and the United Church of Zambia (UCZ) have reaffirmed their commitment towards promoting development in Zambia’s rural communities. CAZ Chairman, Wolfgang Pfeifer says the partnership between his organization and the UCZ in health, education and community service is important as it helps bridge the social service gaps lacking in these areas. Mr. Pfeifer said CAZ is delighted working with the Church in executing projects that better the lives of the underprivileged in society. He said his organization is working with the Church through the Synod Projects department in building a maternity wing at Lubwa Clinic and a science laboratory at Lubwa Primary School. “We are happy to partner with the Church in improving the standards of education infrastructure for children in rural areas and we are confident that once educated, these children will contribute positively towards Zambia’s economic emancipation,” he said. Mr. Pfeifer said this during a meeting held today at the SYNOD Headquarters as part of his three weeks visit to Zambia to inspect projects under Christian Aid for Zambia. Meanwhile, UCZ Synod Projects Secretary Bornface Mafwela says the CAZ supported projects have reached an advanced stage with the construction of the maternity ward at 90 percent completion while the science laboratory stands at 60 percent. Mr. Mafwela said the partnership between the two institutions has helped people from far flung areas have access to health and education services. “The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) continues to appreciate the partnership it has shared with CAZ in the past years and we are committed to ensuring that we refurbish and upgrade infrastructure that is dilapidated in our mission areas,” he said. The Christian Aid for Zambia (CAZ) has been working with the UCZ for the past 20 years in the construction of infrastructure such as maternity wards, minister’s houses and implementing aquaculture initiatives among other notable projects.
